I went to law school thinking I would work for the government and change the world for the better. But during my 2L year at Columbia Law School, I gave birth to twins and became a single mom. Biglaw seemed the inevitable and obviously correct choice for me if I wanted my family to have a good life.

But after eight years in Biglaw, I decided not to put myself up for partner and instead, to pursue a different career—which wasn’t an easy decision.
