Off The Clock with ADVOS Pro

It’s always a treat when I get to sit down with a panel of amazing women I admire and respect, so when Gwen & Whitney asked me to join them on their latest ADVOS Pro “Off The Clock” virtual chat session, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.

Built with the high-growth entrepreneur in mind, ADVOS Pro services are tailored to your law firm –one that moves and changes quickly.

The name ADVOS came from a blend of Advocacy and Strategy and the team is there to support you from preparation to execution by helping you prioritize and plan for the legal work.

At its core, ADVOS Pro makes their mark by helping other law firms build the practices they love.

In turn, the practice loves them back which means it pays them well not just in money, but also time and client relationships.

Gwen Griggs & Whitney Harper and their team encourage law firm owners to share their issues and get feedback through their private, ever-growing community.

And they also bring in industry experts to provide specialized guidance…experts like me!

As a lawyer turned Accredited Financial Counselor I know a thing or two about how attorneys manage (or mismanage) their money.

But I didn’t start my own financial journey knowing what to do, in fact, I got quite a surprise when I became a single mom of twins while a 2L in law school.

I was the head of a household and had no idea what I was doing when it came to money.

I went from Biglaw in DC to the SEC to finally finding my true calling as an Accredited Financial CounselorⓇ.

But the majority of my clients don’t take the path I did…the majority of them are looking for help with their money before they take a big leap.

They feel unfulfilled in their career and are wondering what else is out there, but they’re terrified of making the next transition.

Like ADVOS clients, many of my clients are law firm owners.

During my comprehensive 6-month program, the work I do with my clients helps them have a clear picture of their finances so they know if they should ramp up in their business or if they can afford to slow down.

When we look at their personal finances it all comes down to: what kind of life do you want to have and how can your resources help you finance all of that.

During this compelling conversation we covered topics like

  • Why managing your personal finances can help with your businesses finances

  • Stories of two of my most memorable and relatable clients, one who is a law firm owner

  • Things they don’t teach you in law school

  • The unspoken, emotional side of money

  • How to win the student loan game

  • What really happens during my 6 month program

  • My favorite cash management tip HINT: it does NOT involve apps and spreadsheets

I truly enjoyed my time spent with the ADVOS Pro team and their community.
